If you are reading this, you most likely already know the story of how Koy and I met and how he proposed. Since you might not, though, and I am going to use this blog to talk about wedding planning, among other things, I thought I'd go ahead and share the short version of our story.
We met at a Crossfit gym, CFDC, in August of 2008. Koy had just started coaching some of the classes and would always get on to me about going faster or doing more reps. I would just glare at him or have some smart ass comment to say back to him, but I knew it was all in good fun and looked forward to flirting with him in the next class. Then, he asked me out after a workout in October and we went out a few nights later. On our first date, we went to Capitol Pub for drinks and Sushi Axiom for dinner. That was a Thursday night, and we ended up hanging out that Saturday and Sunday as well. We went out to eat and to a bar on Saturday and then to the State Fair on Sunday. We had so much fun together and I think we both just knew it was right from the start. It was nice to not have to play the typical dating games. Anyway, we planned a trip to go skiing in Solitude, Utah near Park City in January of this year with our friends John and Anna. The first day of skiing, I took lessons in the morning by myself and then had lunch with everyone. Later, Koy and I were in the lodge taking a break and we had said that we would meet John and Anna to go on a green together and take pictures on the mountain. Well, I was so exhausted and in pain from the ski boots so I was just going to wait for them in the lodge. Koy was really adamant about us taking pictures on our first day, though, and then John and Anna met us and talked me into going up with them for pictures. So, I basically just fell down the mountain to a place where we were going to take pictures and John and Anna took our picture together and then I started to walk off to get the camera to take John and Anna's picture, but I noticed that Koy wasn't coming and was down on one knee, and then he proposed. I was so surprised that I just kept saying "Seriously? Seriously?"!! He asked if that was my answer, and I said "No, the answer is yes, but seriously?" Ha ha! It was very sweet and the ring was/is gorgeous!!! He did a great job picking it out without my help. We got a lot of pictures of the actual proposal and of us afterwards, which is really cool to have.
So, the wedding planning has now begun. We have set the date for next Spring, April 9, 2011 to be exact. We have picked the place- the Filter Building on Whiterock Lake, our photographers, caterer, and most importantly I have bought my dress!! I love it and can't wait for it to come in next month. Next on the agenda is bridesmaid dresses, groomsmen attire, and rings. It seems like we have plenty of time now, but I'm sure it will fly by!
What a lovely story. . .it feels like I was there :p

ReplyDeleteWell, I'd love to be able to show you guys my dress, but I don't want Koy to see it, so I'll have to keep it under wraps until the wedding. It's now less than 10 months away! :)
